The Data Center Engineer is responsible for the management and maintenance of data centers, including the installation, configuration, and maintenance of servers, networks, and storage systems. The job is a 12-month contract as a daily rate contractor in London.
Job description
Job Title: Data Center Engineer (12-month contract)Tasks and responsibilities
- Infrastructure management: Installation, configuration, and maintenance of servers, network hardware, and storage systems, including upgrades, in data centers. - Incident management: Point of contact for incidents or emergencies in the data center, providing fast and efficient solutions. - Break fix: Use of system knowledge to solve problems, including outside of working hours and in collaboration with the help desk. - Environmental monitoring: Using tools to monitor and manage power, cooling, and space utilization at all locations to ensure contractual limits are met. - Security and compliance: Ensuring that the data center environment complies with industry best practices, security protocols, and compliance standards, and that appropriate access is provided for staff and contractors. - Vendor management: Ensuring that relevant contractors comply with environmental specifications and SLAs and maintaining good working relationships with them, including using an existing onboarding process for new contractors. - Documentation: Maintaining accurate and detailed documentation of systems, processes, and configurations using existing tools. - Collaboration: Work closely with other teams and stakeholders such as Unix, networking, and storage to ensure smooth operations and address issues.Requirements
- Extensive experience working in data centers installing and uninstalling various hardware components is expected. - Experience with data center cooling, including structured flooring and copper, is desirable. - Familiarity with current Dell-HP servers and Cisco and Arista network hardware is expected.We offer
