Data Center Manager - Vice President

The job posting describes the position of Data Center Manager as Vice President at Nomura in London, responsible for the management and maintenance of data centers, including infrastructure, security, and compliance. Tasks

  • Infrastructure management: Installation, configuration, and maintenance of servers, network hardware, and storage systems, including upgrades, in the data centers.
  • Incident management: Point of contact for incidents or emergencies in the data center, with fast and efficient solutions.
  • Repair: Maintenance of system power, troubleshooting, including outside of working hours and interaction with remote hands if necessary.
  • Environmental monitoring: Monitoring and managing power, cooling, and space usage at all locations to ensure we remain within contractual limits.
  • Security and compliance: Ensuring that the data center environment complies with industry best practices, security protocols, and compliance standards. Maintaining appropriate access levels for key employees and contractors.
  • Supplier management: Ensuring that relevant suppliers comply with environmental specifications and SLAs and maintaining good working relationships with everyone. Using an existing onboarding process to bring in new suppliers when necessary.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of systems, processes, and configurations using existing tools.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other teams and stakeholders such as Unix, networking, and storage to ensure smooth operations and address issues.

Requirements

  • Significant current experience in data centers in the installation and uninstallation of various hardware components is expected.
  • Experience with data center cabling, including structured fiber optic and copper cabling, is desirable.
  • Familiarity with current Dell and HP servers as well as Cisco and Arista network hardware is expected.
  • Knowledge of Evis, Visio, Cofferance, and JIRA would be an advantage.
  • Strong planning skills, including collaboration and working with other teams internally and externally.
  • Experience in accurately documenting records for data centers, such as diagrams, work requests, asset records, and patching.
  • Ability to work unpredictably for over 12 hours.
