Data Engineer
As a Data Engineer in Geneva, you will be responsible for building and maintaining reliable ETL/EL pipelines in cloud environments, as well as ensuring data quality and governance. The position requires at least three years of experience in data integration, in-depth knowledge of SQL, and the ability to collaborate closely with stakeholders and IT teams.
Tasks
- In their day-to-day work, they are responsible for maintaining a smooth and reliable data pipeline, as well as ensuring data protection and security practices within their business environment.
- You will participate in and lead data projects within the company under our guidance, providing training to stakeholders in your capacity as a subject matter expert.
- In developing the technical solution—which should be an objective goal—you bring experience from a consulting firm, Microsoft, AI, and product development, and are able to develop production applications in the cloud.
- You'll work with our in-house testing team, in-house engineers, developers, and the data team.
- Design, implementation, and maintenance of DTZ’s ETL and ELM pipelines for end users in a test environment. The data is used to drive key business decision-making processes. Data quality, data access, data storage, data mapping, and data transformation are critical elements for ensuring the company’s operational requirements are met.
- Maintenance and management of all quality assurance processes for the company's environment and infrastructure, as well as data quality.
- Ensure the completeness of all data from the beginning of the lifecycle within the organization by managing business stakeholders through the development of strong relationships with relevant functions.
- Work closely with relevant colleagues to support ongoing business needs, improve business processes, and enhance operational efficiency, customer satisfaction, and growth.
- Establishment and implementation of data governance operations and best practices to ensure compliance with corporate policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate with the teams at DTZ Information Technology (DTZ IT), Data Science, and Data Engineering, as well as other internal IT solution teams, on projects that utilize multiple technologies and skills, such as data architecture, data modeling, automation, and governance.
- Advising stakeholders on establishing and defining ETL pipeline strategies, optimizing performance, monitoring data quality, identifying anomalies that cause data inconsistencies, and resolving them.
- Stay up to date on the latest developments in data development, ETL pipelines, and MDM management platforms, as well as support for integrating these platforms and technologies.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of experience in data development and data integration, with a strong focus on ETL/EL pipelines in a cloud computing environment.
- Extensive experience with cloud services, including Microsoft Azure, AWS, or GCP, for streaming, data optimization, and governance strategies.
- Strong SQL skills, with expertise in cloud security, including high availability, scalability, observability, and modern enterprise architecture and governance strategies.
- In-depth understanding of SQL Server 2015 database security, including cloud storage, data ingestion, data warehouses, and BI platforms, as well as data governance strategies.
- Familiarity with RDB systems, the Hadoop ecosystem, and relational databases, as well as cloud-native technologies and data processing.
- Experience in building and designing real-time data pipelines and hybrid ETL/EL programs (e.g., data migration).
