Data Engineer

EFG International is seeking a Data Engineer to design, implement, and maintain ETL/ELT data pipelines, as well as to develop and operate ETL-style integrations between various systems. The ideal candidate has at least 5 years of experience in data engineering and data integration, with a strong focus on ETL/ELT pipelines and EDB-style integrations.

Tasks

  • Design, implementation, and maintenance of ETL/ELT data pipelines (batch and near real-time) using Qlik, Talend, and related integration components.
  • Development and operation of ETL-style integrations between core banking systems, data platforms, and downstream applications to ensure reliability, stability, and scalability.
  • Assume operational responsibility for Talent (change management, data quality management, SLA monitoring, JSOs, and notebooks).
  • Monitor and ensure the smooth operation of critical data pipelines, including incident analysis, root cause identification, and the implementation of preventive measures.
  • Implementation of CICD practices using the existing framework to automate and streamline deployments and configuration changes.
  • Implement controls using the observability framework to ensure service continuity and accuracy.
  • Collaborate with data owners to discuss and agree on data quality within their respective areas of responsibility.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (application owners, architects, business analysts, data consumers) to design integration patterns and improve governance around data flows.
  • Contribute to the standardization and industrialization of integration patterns to promote convergence, normalization, and reusability across projects.
  • Stay up to date on advancements in data engineering, ETL/ELT technologies, and cloud-based integration platforms to support the continuous improvement of our DataOps capabilities.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of verifiable hands-on experience in data engineering and data integration, with a strong focus on ETL/ELT pipelines and EDB-style integrations.
  • Proven expertise with Qlik, Talend ETL, and EDB On-Premise, including job design, orchestration, error handling, and performance optimization.
  • Strong ETL and data modeling skills, including the ability to handle large datasets, perform complex transformations, and integrate heterogeneous data sources.
  • Strong knowledge of SQL and experience with relational databases and/or cloud data platforms.
  • Experience applying CI/CD practices and tools in a hybrid environment (e.g., Azure DevOps, GitLab/Git Actions) to data integration components.
  • Familiarity with IT concepts, API-based integrations, messaging, and event-driven patterns is a major plus.
  • Experience with data quality, metadata management, and data lineage tools or frameworks (e.g., Informatica) is a plus.
  • Enjoys providing operational support for "Talent" jobs and data integration workflows (incident analysis, troubleshooting).
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work closely with technical and business stakeholders.
  • Rigorous and methodical in documentation, process development, and change management.
  • Strong interest in standardization, convergence, and the reusability of integration components.
