Data Management Analyst
The Data Management Analyst assists in the management and analysis of data to deliver high quality data analytics and quality assurance and is responsible for the integration and maintenance of financial and alternative data. The focus is on providing support to investment teams and ensuring data-driven decisions.
Job description
Data Management AnalystTasks
- First point of contact for data support for portfolio managers, researchers, traders, engineers and data scientists across the organization
- Responsible for the onboarding and integration of various financial and alternative data
- Development and implementation of data pipelines using industry standard and proprietary technologies; definition and optimization of data models, schemas and workflows with engineering teams
- Proactively monitor and prevent data quality issues before they impact downstream users; promote data quality management with engineers
- Manage and enhance security master content and data lineage tools to ensure data accuracy and completeness
- Management of market data authorizations, improvement of usage monitoring, analysis of usage patterns and optimization of costs
- Curation and maintenance of a metadata set and knowledge base; promotion of automation of daily tasks
Requirements
Essential requirements
- Experience with data ingestion, management and analysis, preferably in the financial industry
- Strong knowledge of Python and SQL
- Expertise in ETL, tools and technologies
- Strong understanding and ability to extract and deliver high quality analysis, with strong analytical mindset and accountability for results
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Desired requirements
- Working knowledge of data modeling, data warehousing, Linux/UNIX, SQL; 3+ years experience preferred
- Familiarity with one or more relevant database technologies, e.g. Apache Kudu, PostgreSQL, Snowflake etc.
- Experience with large and unstructured data sets
- Practical experience with financial data providers and good understanding of market data structures
- Data management skills with proven ability to work effectively across different teams and seniority levels
Personal characteristics
- Strong academic background and university degree with high mathematical and computational content, e.g. computer science, mathematics, finance
- Hands-on attitude; willing to get involved in data projects across the organization
- Self-organized with the ability to manage time effectively across multiple projects and with competing business needs and priorities
- Empathetic and collaborative; able to build and maintain close working relationships with quantitative researchers, technologists, traders and senior business people
- Confident communication; able to argue a point succinctly and deal positively with conflicting views
