Analyst - Data Science Analysis - Man Data and Machine Learning

The role

As an Analyst in the Data Science Analysis team, you will support the quantitative research and portfolio management teams in the development of data-driven trading models. Your focus will be on sourcing, curating, cleansing and assessing data, both structured and unstructured, to gain insights. For some projects, you will act as a subject matter expert and provide high quality exploratory data analysis and insights.

Tasks

  • Collaborate with investment teams to identify data opportunities, propose creative use cases, and design and implement solutions to meet business needs
  • Acquisition, transformation and analysis of large and unstructured data sets to support investment research and decision making
  • Work with data engineers on vendor relationships, evaluating, documenting and comparing new data offerings to assess their applicability to our investment teams
  • Collaborate with data engineers, data scientists and data products to develop models and document results to support investment teams and maintain an accessible knowledge base
  • Contributing to company-wide data initiatives, improving the data ecosystem and informing industry trends in alternative data
  • Develop and test proof-of-concept data products to test investment hypotheses and work with technology to productize them

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in a related position
  • Ability to present results, conclusions and technical concepts to non-technical audiences
  • Experience with Python data science stack, including Pandas, NumPy, Spark, Matplotlib, Jupyter, SQL experience
  • Strong academic background and university degree in a STEM subject
  • 2+ years of experience with large data sets
  • Programming skills; expertise in Python
  • Experience with ETL and evaluation of large data sets
  • Strong understanding of data quality, data origin, data management
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Self-organized with the ability to manage time effectively across multiple projects and with competing priorities, demands and deadlines
  • Prior experience working with investment professionals in a fast-paced environment is preferred but not required
