Data Science Analyst

The Data Science Analyst supports the development of data-driven trading models by sourcing, cleansing and analyzing large amounts of data. The focus is on working with investment teams to gain data-driven insights and recommend solutions for investment strategies.

About the role

As an Analyst in the Data Science Analyst team, you will use your specific and general skills to support the quantitative research and portfolio management teams in the development of data-driven trading models.

Tasks

  • Work with investment teams to identify data opportunities, propose creative use cases and recommend solutions to underpin investment strategies
  • Extract, transform and analyze large, messy and complex data sets to support investment research and decision making
  • Build long-term relationships with technology, product and peer companies to evaluate new data offerings and assess their applicability to our investment teams
  • Research company APIs, create relevant data sets and document findings to support investment teams and inform actionable recommendations
  • Contribute to firm-wide data initiatives, improve the data ecosystem, and learn about industry trends and data internationalization
  • Create and lead proof-of-concept data products to test investment hypotheses and work with technology to produce them

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in a related position
  • Ability to present results, conclusions and technical concepts to non-technical audiences
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a willingness to learn the requirements of investment teams and proactively seek out new ideas that could deliver business value
  • Proven strong academic background and university degree in a STEM subject
  • Strong academic background
  • Strong programming skills in data analysis, data visualization
  • Expertise in Python data science stack, including Pandas, NumPy, Spark, Matplotlib, Jupyter, SQL experience
  • Experience with ETLs and evaluation of data governance
  • Working knowledge of Snowflake, Linux/UNIX, Git, Docker is preferred
  • Self-starting setting
  • Self-organized with the ability to manage time effectively across multiple projects and with competing priorities
  • Business acumen - you will be working with investment professionals in a fast-paced environment, but attention to detail is not essential
