Data Scientist / Python Developer 100% (f/m/d)

The Julius Baer Group is looking for a Data Scientist / Python Developer (m/f/d) in Madrid to lead the development of data-driven models and the optimization of data pipelines. The ideal candidate will have a master's degree in a quantitative subject and excellent analytical skills, as well as experience with Python and data analysis.

Your challenge

  • Lead the end-to-end development of data-driven models, from exploratory analysis and feature engineering to modeling, validation, deployment, monitoring, and comprehensive documentation.
  • Design, build, and optimize robust data pipelines to ensure high-quality, reliable, and timely access to structured and semi-structured financial data sets.
  • Develop and improve solutions for identifying and resolving financial data anomalies, including prototyping new algorithms and improving existing methods.
  • Define and implement meaningful performance indicators and impact analyses to evaluate model effectiveness against clear business objectives.
  • Support the migration and integration of existing models into a new, enterprise-wide data science platform to ensure scalability, reproducibility, and compliance.
  • Create intuitive, interactive dashboards (e.g., using Tableau or similar tools) to visualize insights and facilitate stakeholder engagement.
  • Collaboration in agile, multidisciplinary teams - promoting best practices, peer review, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement

Your profile

  • Master's degree in data science, statistics, mathematics, physics, computer science, or a related quantitative field (completed or in progress)
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail
  • Solid theoretical understanding of core probability and statistics concepts, as well as familiarity with popular machine learning methods (experience with recommendation systems is a plus)
  • Proven expertise in Python for data analysis and automation (libraries such as pandas, scikit-learn, NumPy, PyTorch/TensorFlow), solid knowledge of SQL for querying large databases
  • Familiarity with software engineering and DevOps principles, especially in the areas of code versioning (Git), testing, CI/CD pipelines, and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) is highly valued.
  • Fluent in English; Spanish is a plus
