Database Engineer

Tasks

The role of Database Engineer encompasses responsibility for end-to-end database platform engineering. Tasks include:

• Creation of automation tools and infrastructure-as-code for database provisioning and configuration management
• Development, monitoring, alerting, and observation of solutions with Grafana, Prometheus, and InfluxDB
• Containerization of databases with Docker and Kubernetes
• Creation of CI/CD pipelines for database deployments and software changes
• Design and implementation of tools/LCM infrastructure (query optimization suggestions, intelligent alerting, etc.)
• Participation in on-call rotations through on-call shifts in the rotation system
• Support and management of database provision initiatives
• Creation of self-service tools for developers (database provisioning, migration automation)
• Provision of 24/7 on-call database support and administration tasks
• Collaboration on the on-call self-call rate
• Collaborating with infrastructure teams and developers to implement optimal solutions

Requirements

The following requirements are necessary:

• 1-4 years of experience in database administration, infrastructure engineering, or database administration
• Strong programming skills in Python or similar languages
• Solid experience with databases (PostgreSQL, Oracle, SQL Server)
• Experience with at least one relational database (PostgreSQL, Oracle, SQL Server)
• Knowledge of SQL; database fundamentals (performance, indexing, transactions)
• Familiarity with versioning (GIT) and DevOps concepts
• Strong scripting skills (Bash, Python, PowerShell)
• Proven ability to design resilient tasks
• Experience in teaching/managing engineers and migration to detail
• Strong problem-solving skills and a desire to install
• Ability to expand and develop skills in any area as required
