Database Engineer - Senior
Man Group is looking for an experienced database engineer who can take on the management and administration of databases such as Oracle, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and SQL Server. The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge of database administration and engineering, as well as experience with modern technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
Purpose of the role
We have an exciting opportunity for a Database Platform Engineer with strong database administration and engineering skills to join our team of highly skilled engineers and database administrators responsible for managing Oracle, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and SQL Server databases.Specific tasks
The specific duties of the role include:- Management and administration of Oracle, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and SQL Server databases
- Collaborating with other technology teams to identify and implement optimal solutions for Man Group
- Documentation and architecture of solutions to make the best possible use of technology in this area
- Checking the status of a standards-based infrastructure using relevant configuration management tools
- Planning capacity and utilization to ensure that business requirements are met
- Ensuring high infrastructure availability and minimizing the duration and impact of outages
- Maintaining a consistently high level of service for incidents, requests, and changes
- Provision of database support for all database technologies, databases, and end users
- Use of database security standards throughout the database infrastructure
- Participation in 24/7 support and shift work
Key competencies
- Deep knowledge of Oracle or PostgreSQL/MongoDB, relational databases
- Basic knowledge of MongoDB or SQL Server
- Familiarity with infrastructure automation and configuration management tools such as Terraform and Ansible

- Proficiency in Linux
- Strong scripting skills in Bash/Perl/Python/PowerShell
- Experience in the design, construction, and configuration of DataGuard, RMAN
- Ability to manage databases and perform database migrations
