Deferred Compensation Specialist (f, m, d) - 100%

Julius Baer is seeking a Deferred Compensation Specialist in Zurich to independently manage and optimize the company’s global deferred compensation programs. The position requires at least four years of experience in equity or deferred compensation, as well as fluency in German and English.

YOUR CHALLENGE

  • Strategic Plan Design & Governance Support: Play a key role in reviewing and enhancing existing deferred compensation frameworks—proposing improvements based on regulatory developments, market practices, or internal feedback. Prepare clear, accurate, and well-structured submission and governance documentation for presentation to the Executive Board and the Board of Directors.
  • End-to-End Program Leadership: Take full ownership of the entire lifecycle of deferred compensation plans, from strategic design to implementation—ensuring precision, consistency, and compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Stakeholder Engagement & Advisory: Serve as the primary point of contact for employees, executives, and cross-functional partners (HR, Finance, Legal, Compliance, Internal Audit, and external advisors), providing clear guidance on award mechanics, tax implications, and policy interpretation.
  • Operational Rigor with a Control Mindset: Balance strategic responsibilities with operational execution—including transaction processing, data validation, and troubleshooting—to ensure seamless, smooth operations, without losing sight of long-term improvements.
  • Global Compliance & Risk Oversight: Ensure strict compliance with international tax regulations (including local reporting requirements), coordinate annual compensation disclosures, and ensure readiness across all operating entities.
  • Process Innovation & Digitalization: Drive continuous improvement through technology and automation—by evaluating, implementing, and optimizing external platforms such as Workday and EquatePlus—to streamline processes, reduce manual effort, and improve the user experience.
  • Governance & Control Excellence: Support global oversight by preparing and/or reviewing detailed contract documentation, regulatory submissions, and reports. Maintain comprehensive end-to-end controls to meet internal and external audit requirements.

Requirements

  • Experience: A college degree in business, finance, or law, with at least 4 years of experience in the design and administration of equity or deferred compensation plans. Preference will be given to candidates with prior experience in compensation consulting, wealth management, financial services, or at a multinational corporation.
  • Deferred Compensation Expertise: Demonstrated knowledge of cash- and equity-based deferred compensation mechanisms, including performance conditions, vesting rules, post-termination delivery, and regulatory requirements.
  • Personal attributes:
    • Demonstrate strong organizational skills, agility, and resilience, adapting quickly while maintaining accuracy and service levels.
    • Operate effectively in the face of change—whether driven by regulation, reorganization, or evolving business priorities.
    • Meticulous attention to detail, with uncompromising standards for accuracy and quality.
    • A structured thinker with strong organizational skills who thrives in complex, regulated environments.
    • A results-oriented self-starter capable of working both independently and collaboratively within a team.
    • An exceptional communicator—able to explain technical concepts simply and confidently, even under pressure.
    • A high degree of discretion and integrity when handling sensitive, executive-level data and complex compensation matters.
    • A team player who is eager to continue learning, growing, and developing in this role and within the broader organization.
  • Language: Fluency in German and English is required.
