Design System Product Owner/Design Lead (80–100%) (f/m/d)

Job description

We are looking for an experienced Design System Lead who can serve as both Product Owner and Design Lead. Our Design System is the driving force behind the work of numerous UX designers and front-end developers across the banking sector.

Tasks

* Management of complex enterprise design systems, including design libraries (Figma) and code libraries (Storybook) for Angular and React * Strong leadership experience with cross-functional design systems, with the ability to facilitate seamless collaboration between designers and developers * 100% ownership of operational excellence, including robust release management, quality assurance, and continuous reduction of design and technical debt * Masterful backlog management, including prioritizing competing requests across multiple product teams and effectively managing Jira workflows * Ability to drive the strategic evolution of the design system, including defining the next wave of features, capabilities, tools, and frameworks that provide value to the consuming teams * Strong understanding of agile working methods and design-specific workflows, including release governance, contribution processes, and iterative delivery in alignment with product teams * Knowledge of accessibility and mobile design (both web and native) is required * Passion for operational and organizational efficiency, with a strong focus on improving processes, governance, and collaboration models * Understanding of how AI can support design-specific operations, from automation in documentation to design token governance and code generation * Deep passion for documentation to ensure that every improvement or change is fully reflected in the documentation (e.g., Frontify) with the same level of care and quality * Strong stakeholder management skills to navigate organizational complexity and collaborate effectively with technical teams, branding, accessibility, governance, and consuming product teams * Strong communication skills to engage with the team at an expert level and translate complex design system topics into clear, actionable insights for management * Act as a brand ambassador to ensure the design system aligns with the bank’s comprehensive brand and visual identity guidelines

Requirements

* At least 8–10 years of dedicated experience with design systems in large-scale or enterprise-wide environments * Easy to work with and pragmatic * A global mindset, excellent interpersonal skills, and a strong desire to learn * Fluency in English is required; fluency in German is a plus * Authorization to work in the country for which you are applying
