Director - Backup & Recovery - Infrastructure Services

Tasks

• Responsible for day-to-day backup and recovery engineering, online help operations, monitoring-based alerting, problem identification and troubleshooting, and backup planning and implementation
• Providing technical leadership for projects, monitoring, planning, and risk mitigation
• Presentation and management of all production platforms, automation, and technical account support for application and system customers
• Implementation and management of all operational activities necessary to achieve the core system objectives; development, maintenance, and resolution of all issues
• Providing hands-on support to all teams to enable best technology practices and maintain existing backup and recovery processes
• Manage IT and operations teams while ensuring 100% accountability for fulfilling commitments, including workarounds, root cause analysis, and documentation
• Collaborate with teams and other stakeholders to continuously drive operational excellence
• Participation in the on-call rotation and on-site support during major outages, if necessary
• Ongoing evaluation of tools, implementation, and operation of new and existing processes
• Contribute to a culture of customer excellence in all assigned roles and provide feedback and support to help achieve goals
• Providing expertise and oversight for Cyberloft, Barracuda, Kasten, Zerto, and other backup tools
• Project scope, strategic planning, supplier selection, and the development of project schedules and milestones
• New Backup and Recovery Tools and Best Practices
• Ensuring that the team meets its high standards of excellence in customer service
• Responsible for managing the IT infrastructure—including backup systems—and providing support for the design and implementation of new or existing solutions; responsible for the successful implementation of technology changes to support business projects and initiatives
• Responsible for developing documentation for new technologies and services
• Provision of incident support with a direct reporting channel and escalation path to the CIO
• Driving, enforcing, and aligning security and compliance requirements across all processes
• Planning and implementation of identified process improvements and efficiencies
• Responsible for managing and leading the backup infrastructure team
• Management of supplier relationships and general technical and functional expertise

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or college diploma in technology, applied arts, design, web design, data science, or a related field
• 7+ years of experience in IT infrastructure
• 2+ years of industry experience with the technologies used in this role, including IBM Ansible, NetBackup, and Dell EMC Data Domain
• 3–5 years of experience as a manager
• 3+ years of experience in infrastructure
• 3+ years of experience with storage and clustering, including the design of logical and physical storage topologies
• Knowledge and experience with backup, including Data Domain, replication, CIFS, NAS, etc.
• Practical knowledge of NetBackup, CUBA, Acronis, Kasten, etc.
• A solid understanding of Unix and data processing
• Practical Knowledge of Python Scripting
• Proven track record in managing large-scale engineering teams
• Extensive experience in implementation and operations with data and information consistency
