Director, Consultant Relations

Purpose of the role

The role of Director, Consultant Relations, aims to positively position various Man products in the investment consulting channel. This role will act as a relationship manager for US and global investment consulting firms.

Specific responsibilities

  • Developing and maintaining effective, professional relationships with research and field consultants, as well as key stakeholders and influencers at associated investment consulting firms and certain financial intermediaries
  • Collaborate with consultants and external stakeholders to identify and evaluate business opportunities from a product and business development perspective, taking into account overall commercial planning and sales strategy.
  • Generation of ratings and fund approvals through strong research relationships
  • Utilization of ratings and approvals through communication with field advisors, taking into account relevant technical knowledge of key strategies
  • Leadership and engagement of senior managers to gain access to key advisors for strategic discussions
  • Delivering effective, professional presentations on the agreed product offering to consultants to support business development and convey clear, concise, and compelling messages
  • Ensuring that consultant feedback and ratings are systematically communicated to key internal stakeholders and involving direct employees to create a coherent business plan and information
  • Providing leadership and direction for teams with key insights into investor trends, news, and market dynamics to interact with the field
  • Organization and implementation of external and internal events such as seminars for interested parties and participation in relevant industry events in accordance with the teams' agreed asset agenda
  • Identifying and gathering information for all key contacts to ensure that accurate, up-to-date information about these contacts is stored, and ensuring that all meeting notes are taken in a timely and accurate manner

Key competencies

  • 7 years of experience in the investment management industry, including at least 5 years in an investment or similar role
  • Proven success in securing new strategy approvals and increasing asset inflows
  • C-level experience; ideally with responsibility for teams; ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
  • CFA, CAIA, or other professional qualifications (MBA/strategy preferred)
  • Willingness and ability to travel
  • Ability to think strategically and work independently and as part of a team
  • Proven problem-solving skills and demonstrated initiative
  • Professional and cooperative communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to maintain relationships and partnerships with many key stakeholders
  • Compliance/Regulation: Up-to-date knowledge of regulatory matters and compliance with procedures and processes
  • Proficiency in MS Office
