Director of Origination - Maritime & Offshore Investment BankingTasks
The main tasks include:- Lead new business development: Identify shipping groups, asset managers, service providers, and other conventional maritime and offshore participants to generate mandates for debt, equity, hybrid financing, M&A, and restructurings.
- Developing and maintaining a strong network of relationships: shipping companies (owners/operators), banks, direct credit funds, private equity firms, leasing and asset finance institutions, technical advisors, and institutional investors.
- Development of financing and advisory solutions: Proposing structural concepts, access to capital markets, hybrid instruments, and alternative financing tailored to maritime and offshore clients.
- Collaborate with the broader Maritime & Offshore team to develop pitch books, teasers, client proposals, and investment memoranda focused on new business opportunities.
- Collaborate with execution teams (VPs, associates, analysts) to ensure a smooth transition from new business development to execution and to provide strategic insights into business opportunities.
- Monitoring market trends in shipping, offshore, and the energy transition (e.g., ESG, decarbonization, specialized assets) and identifying new segments or product ideas.
- Participation in industry conferences, seminars, forums, and client events; publication of thought leadership articles or insights relevant to maritime/offshore financing.
- Support revenue generation, manage the sales pipeline, track new business metrics, and contribute to the practice’s overall growth strategy.
Requirements
The requirements include:- Experience in the maritime/offshore or related industry.
- Extensive network within the maritime shipping ecosystem—shipping companies, financiers, leasing companies, investors, and technical consultants.
- Strong structuring and commercial skills: Ability to design financing solutions, tailor product packages, negotiate contract terms, and communicate with investors/creditors.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills; ability to influence senior clients and stakeholders; fluent in English. Greek is a strong plus.
- Entrepreneurial mindset: Self-starter, proactive in identifying new opportunities, comfortable in a fast-paced, cross-border environment.
- Teamwork and leadership: While the focus is on new business development, you will collaborate with implementation teams and senior management, so organizational, coordination, and mentoring skills are required.
