Job description

Director of Origination - Maritime & Offshore Investment Banking

Tasks

The main tasks include:
  • Lead new business development: Identify shipping groups, asset managers, service providers, and other conventional maritime and offshore participants to generate mandates for debt, equity, hybrid financing, M&A, and restructurings.
  • Developing and maintaining a strong network of relationships: shipping companies (owners/operators), banks, direct credit funds, private equity firms, leasing and asset finance institutions, technical advisors, and institutional investors.
  • Development of financing and advisory solutions: Proposing structural concepts, access to capital markets, hybrid instruments, and alternative financing tailored to maritime and offshore clients.
  • Collaborate with the broader Maritime & Offshore team to develop pitch books, teasers, client proposals, and investment memoranda focused on new business opportunities.
  • Collaborate with execution teams (VPs, associates, analysts) to ensure a smooth transition from new business development to execution and to provide strategic insights into business opportunities.
  • Monitoring market trends in shipping, offshore, and the energy transition (e.g., ESG, decarbonization, specialized assets) and identifying new segments or product ideas.
  • Participation in industry conferences, seminars, forums, and client events; publication of thought leadership articles or insights relevant to maritime/offshore financing.
  • Support revenue generation, manage the sales pipeline, track new business metrics, and contribute to the practice’s overall growth strategy.

Requirements

The requirements include:
  • Experience in the maritime/offshore or related industry.
  • Extensive network within the maritime shipping ecosystem—shipping companies, financiers, leasing companies, investors, and technical consultants.
  • Strong structuring and commercial skills: Ability to design financing solutions, tailor product packages, negotiate contract terms, and communicate with investors/creditors.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills; ability to influence senior clients and stakeholders; fluent in English. Greek is a strong plus.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset: Self-starter, proactive in identifying new opportunities, comfortable in a fast-paced, cross-border environment.
  • Teamwork and leadership: While the focus is on new business development, you will collaborate with implementation teams and senior management, so organizational, coordination, and mentoring skills are required.

We offer

We offer:
  • Exposure to high-profile international maritime and offshore contracts operating in one of the world’s leading shipping hubs.
  • Opportunity for a growing practice
