Job description

Director of Origination - Maritime & Offshore Investment Banking

Tasks

- Leading new business development: Identifying shipping groups, asset managers, investors, service providers, and other conventional players in the maritime and offshore industries to generate mandates for debt, equity, hybrid financing, M&A, and restructuring. - Building and maintaining a strong network of relationships: Shipping companies (owners/operators), banks, direct lending funds, private equity firms, leasing and asset finance institutions, technical advisors, and institutional investors. - Developing financing and advisory solutions: Proposing structuring ideas, access to capital markets, hybrid instruments, and alternative financing tailored to maritime/offshore clients. - Collaborating with the broader Maritime & Offshore team to develop pitch books, teasers, client proposals, and investment memoranda focused on acquisition opportunities. - Collaborating with the execution teams (VPs, Associates, Analysts) to ensure a smooth transition from acquisition to execution; providing strategic insights into business opportunities. - Monitor market trends in shipping, offshore, and energy transition (e.g., ESG, decarbonization, specialized assets) and identify new segments or product ideas. - Representing Alantra at industry conferences, seminars, forums, and client events; publishing thought leadership articles or insights relevant to maritime/offshore finance. - Supporting revenue generation, managing the pipeline, monitoring acquisition metrics, and contributing to the practice’s overall growth strategy.

Requirements

- Extensive network in the maritime shipping industry—shipping companies, financiers, leasing firms, investors, and technical consultants. - Strong structuring and commercial skills: ability to design financing solutions, tailor product packages, negotiate term sheets, and liaise with investors/lenders. - Excellent communication and presentation skills; ability to influence senior clients and stakeholders; fluent in English. Greek is a strong plus. - Entrepreneurial mindset: Self-starter, proactive in identifying new opportunities, comfortable in a fast-paced cross-border environment. - Teamwork and leadership: While the focus is on acquisition, you will collaborate with execution teams and senior management, so organizational, coordination, and mentoring skills are required.

We offer

- Exposure to high-profile international maritime and offshore projects operating in one of the world’s leading shipping hubs. - The opportunity to build and shape a growing practice within a global investment banking platform. - A dynamic and entrepreneurial culture with direct access to senior leadership and decision-makers. - Competitive, performance-based compensation with opportunities for career advancement within the maritime/offshore division.
