Director of Origination - Maritime & Offshore Investment Banking

Tasks

• New business lead origination: identify shipowner groups, asset management companies, and other conventional maritime and offshore participants to generate and secure debt and equity financing, as well as M&A and restructuring opportunities.
• Develop and maintain a strong network of relationships with shipping companies, private equity firms, banks, direct lending firms, leasing and asset management institutions, and institutional investors.
• Design financing and advisory solutions: propose structuring ideas, capital market instruments, and alternative financing options tailored to maritime and offshore clients.
• Work with the broader Alantara team to develop pitch books, teasers, and investment memoranda focused on origination opportunities.
• Collaborate with execution teams (VPs, Associates, Analysts) to ensure a smooth process from origination to execution; provide strategic insight on deal opportunities.
• Monitor market trends in shipping, offshore, and energy transactions, and identify new market segments or product ideas.
• Represent Alantara at industry conferences, seminars, forums, and client events, and define the practice’s overall growth strategy.
• Support revenue generation targets, manage the pipeline, track origination metrics, and drive growth; build relationships and implement solutions.

Requirements

• maritime/offshore or related industries.
• A deep network within the maritime shipping ecosystem — shipowners, financiers, and technical advisors.
• Strong structuring and commercial skills: ability to design financing solutions, evaluate mandates for private equity, leverage (owners/operators), and technical advisors.
• Experience across multiple maritime markets, hybrid financing, client proposals, and a quick transition from project to evaluation.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills; ability to influence senior clients and stakeholders; comfortable working in a cross-border environment.
• We need to coordinate with the execution teams.
• Entrepreneurial mindset: self-starter, proactive, innovative, and with strong operational experience at one of the leading investment banking platforms. Experience working with decision-makers. Opportunities within the business.
