Director of Origination - Maritime & Offshore Investment Banking

Tasks

• Lead new business development efforts: Identify shipping groups, asset managers, SPVs, asset-owning companies, and other relevant players in the maritime and offshore sectors to generate organic growth and build direct relationships with asset owners/operators, financial sponsors, banks, direct lending funds, private equity firms, leasing and asset finance institutions, and institutional investors.
• Designing Financing and Advisory Solutions: Proposing structuring ideas, making recommendations on capital structure, and providing customized alternative financing solutions for maritime and offshore clients.
• Collaborate with the expanded Maritime & Offshore team to develop pitch books, teasers, and/or investment memoranda with a focus on acquisition opportunities.
• Collaborate with execution teams (VPs, Associates, Analysts) to ensure a smooth transition to execution; provide strategic insights into deal opportunities.
• Monitoring market trends in shipping, the offshore sector, and the energy transition (e.g., ESG, decarbonization), as well as identifying new market segments or product ideas.
• Representing Alantra at industry conferences, seminars, forums, and customer events.
• Supporting the achievement of revenue goals, managing the pipeline, tracking acquisition metrics, and contributing to the practice's overall growth strategy.

Requirements

• Industry experience in the maritime/offshore industry or related sectors.
• Extensive network within the maritime shipping industry—shipowners, financiers, asset managers, investors, and technical consultants.
• Strong structuring and commercial skills: Ability to design financing solutions, negotiate term sheets, and interact with investors and lenders.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills; ability to influence senior clients and C-suite executives in a dynamic, cross-border environment.
• Entrepreneurial mindset: Self-starter who is proactive in identifying new opportunities and building pipelines.
• Teamwork and Leadership: Since the focus is on business development, but interaction with implementation teams and senior management is required, organizational, coordination, and mentoring skills are necessary.
