As Director of Origination in the Maritime & Offshore Investment Banking division at Alantra, my role is to expand business relationships within the maritime ecosystem, develop innovative financing and advisory solutions, and acquire new business. I work closely with deal teams and focus on the origination of new business.

Director of Origination - Maritime & Offshore Investment BankingTasks
- Lead origination of new business: identifying groups of ship owners, asset managers, service companies, and other conventional participants in the maritime and offshore sectors in order to generate mandates for debt capital, equity capital, hybrid financing, M&A, and restructuring.
- Developing and maintaining a strong network of relationships: shipping companies (owners/operators), banks, direct credit funds, private equity, leasing and asset financing institutions, technical advisors, and institutional investors.
- Design of financing and advisory solutions: Proposal of structuring ideas, access to capital markets, hybrid instruments, and alternative financing tailored to maritime/offshore clients.
- Collaborate with the broader Maritime & Offshore team to develop pitch books, teasers, client proposals, and investment memoranda focused on origination opportunities.
- Collaborate with execution teams (VPs, associates, analysts) to ensure a smooth handover from origination to execution; provide strategic insights into deal opportunities.
- Monitoring market trends in shipping, offshore, energy transition (e.g., ESG, decarbonization, specialized assets) and identifying new segments or product ideas.
- Representing Alantra at industry conferences, seminars, forums, and client events; publishing leadership articles or insights relevant to maritime/offshore financing.
- Support revenue generation goals, manage the pipeline, track origination metrics, and contribute to the overall strategy of the business unit.
Requirements
- Deep network in the maritime shipping ecosystem – ship owners, financiers, leasing companies, investors, technical consultants.
- Strong structuring and commercial skills: Ability to design financing solutions, customize product stacks, negotiate term sheets, and communicate with investors/lenders.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills; ability to influence high-level clients and stakeholders; fluent in English. Greek is a strong plus.
- Entrepreneurial mindset: Self-starter, proactive in identifying new opportunities, comfortable in a fast-paced, cross-border environment.
- Teamwork and leadership: While the focus is on origination, you will interact with execution teams and senior management, so organizational, coordination, and mentoring skills are required.
