External Alpha Operational Risk Analyst

Tasks

The role involves a comprehensive, in-depth analysis of all operational areas of alternative investments to identify potential risks that could negatively impact the business or reputation of Man and/or its experts. Specific tasks include:

• Conducting in-depth operational due diligence reviews of external managers, particularly hedge funds and, to a lesser extent, private markets
• Participation in on-site and virtual meetings with subject matter experts (3rd) to assess operational infrastructure and controls
• Self-initiated ad hoc due diligence and reports for internal committees and clients, highlighting key risks and mitigation strategies. Communication of audit findings both internally to External Alpha's risk team and externally to third-party fund managers.
• Collaborate with global business teams to ensure timely and high-quality delivery of audits and projects
• Monitoring ongoing developments and changes in existing manager relationships, escalating concerns when necessary
• Maintaining awareness of industry best practices, regulatory developments, and emerging operational risks

Requirements

A successful candidate will demonstrate the following competencies:

• Experience in a control-oriented role, such as operational due diligence, operations, fund control, risk management, or risk control. Familiarity with alternative investments, particularly hedge funds, is highly preferred.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey results to both internal and external audiences. The candidate will be expected to participate in and ultimately lead due diligence meetings with external parties.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify and assess complex operational risks in meetings with key control professionals at third-party alternative managers. The candidate will be required to formulate control opinions on the adequacy of operational risk management processes, regulatory compliance, valuation, and other operational areas.
• A high degree of organization and autonomy, with the ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines
