FIG Analyst, Bank Ratings & Capital Advisory (RAC) (London, UK)

Tasks

The role includes:
  • Support for existing (renewed) consulting contracts and new business development / pitch materials
  • Analysis of credit rating agency methodologies (particularly S&P, Moody’s, and Fitch) and assessment of rating sensitivities and notching implications
  • Detailed analysis of bank financial reports, including asset quality, capital, debt, funding, and liquidity metrics, within the framework of rating agencies
  • Modeling of capital and funding scenarios, including the impact on CET1, AT1, Tier 2, and MREL/TLAC positions under rating agency frameworks
  • Preparation of client materials, briefing notes, and analytical memos for internal and external use
  • Monitoring regulatory and credit rating agency developments (e.g., EBA, ECB, PRA) and assessing their impact on client ratings

Requirements

The candidate should:
  • Have a comprehensive understanding of the bank’s balance sheet, income statement, and their interrelationships, including asset risk, profitability, capital positioning, funding and liquidity, and off-balance-sheet liabilities
  • A strong understanding of regulatory capital metrics (CET1, Tier 1, total capital, leverage ratio, RWAs) and funding metrics (LCR, NSFR)
  • A keen eye for detail and strong analytical skills have
  • Possess clear and precise communication skills for interactions with senior-level clients

Desired qualifications

It is preferred that the candidate:
  • has experience in bank treasury and capital management
  • Has experience in auditing or consulting for financial institutions
  • Has a strong academic background in finance, accounting, economics, or a related field
  • has advanced financial modeling and Excel skills

Further requirements

It is also desirable that the candidate:
  • Holds an accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, or equivalent) or is in the process of obtaining one
  • has an FCA qualification or relevant regulatory certification
  • Direct experience working with banks at a credit rating agency
  • Has a background in auditing or accounting with experience working with financial institutions
