FIG Vice President, Bank Ratings & Capital Advisory (RAC)
Alantra is seeking a Vice President for Bank Ratings & Capital Advisory in London who has experience advising banks on optimizing their credit profiles and executing transactions in the DCM sector. The successful candidate will assume a senior executive role and work directly with high-level clients to support their strategies regarding credit agencies and capital management.
Tasks
The successful candidate will play a senior, client-facing role in the team’s continued expansion, supporting banks worldwide with their strategies regarding rating agencies, balance sheet and capital management, and solutions to strengthen their credit profiles. The role offers direct access to senior clients, including C-suite executives and treasury teams, and requires the ability to lead workstreams, manage junior team members, and contribute to new business development.Key Responsibilities
- Overseeing the execution of existing consulting engagements and assisting with new business development and pitch materials
- Advice on the methodologies of the major rating agencies, including rating sensitivities and notching implications
- Overseeing the analysis of bank balance sheets, including asset quality, profitability, capital, leverage, funding, and liquidity
- Leading capital and funding scenario analyses, including CET1, AT1, Tier 2, and MREL/TLAC issuance impacts
- Preparation and review of senior-level client materials, briefing notes, and analytical memoranda
- Monitoring regulatory and credit rating agency developments and translating their implications into actionable client advice
- Execution of FIG financing transactions (DCM), with a particular focus on senior unsecured debt, covered bonds, and regulatory capital instruments
- Acting as the key interface between the client and investors, delivering high-quality execution while managing the transaction
- Building relationships with our clients' key stakeholders
- Building a brand profile and actively participating in new business development
Requirements
- In-depth understanding of bank balance sheets, P&L, asset risk, capital, funding, liquidity, and off-balance-sheet exposures
- Strong technical knowledge of regulatory capital metrics (CET1, Tier 1, total capital, leverage ratio, and LTV)
- 6–9 years of relevant experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Rating agency (bank ratings team), ideally with senior analytical responsibilities
- FIG Investment Banking, Capital Advisory Services, or Regulatory Capital Advisory Services
- Bank Treasury/Capital Management/ALM
- Direct experience covering banks at a rating agency or advising banks on their interactions with rating agencies
- Extensive knowledge of banking capital instruments, MREL/TLAC, AT1/Tier 2 issuances, and rating implications
- Experience in executing transactions involving these instruments
- Expert-Level Banking Financial Analysis and Credit Analysis
- In-depth knowledge of regulatory frameworks, capital instruments, and rating agency methodologies
- Ability to lead complex analyses, challenge assumptions, and translate findings into clear recommendations
- Structured thinking, quantitative rigor, and strong execution discipline
- Professional judgment and discretion in handling
