FIG Vice President, Bank Ratings & Capital Advisory (RAC)
The position of Vice President, Bank Ratings & Capital Advisory at Alantra in London is a senior executive and client-focused role focused on advising banks on credit rating, balance sheet, and capital management issues. The successful candidate should have extensive knowledge of bank balance sheets, regulatory capital metrics, and valuation methods, as well as experience executing investment banking transactions.
Tasks
The successful candidate will play a senior, client-facing role in the team’s continued expansion, supporting banks worldwide with their strategies regarding rating agencies, balance sheet/capital management, and solutions to strengthen their credit profiles. The role offers direct access to senior clients, including C-suite executives and treasury teams, and requires the ability to lead workstreams, manage junior team members, and contribute to new business development.Key Responsibilities
- Overseeing the execution of existing consulting engagements and supporting new business development/pitch materials
- Advice on the methodologies of the major rating agencies, including rating sensitivities and notching implications
- Overseeing the analysis of bank balance sheets, including asset quality, profitability, capital, debt, financing, and liquidity
- Conducting capital and funding scenario analyses, including the impact of CET1, AT1, Tier 2, and MREL/TLAC issuances
- Preparation and review of senior-level client materials, briefing notes, and analytical memoranda
- Monitoring regulatory and credit rating agency developments and translating them into practical client advice
- Execution of FIG financing transactions (DCM), with a particular focus on senior unsecured bonds, covered bonds, and regulatory capital instruments
- Acting as an intermediary between the client and investors, delivering high-quality execution while managing the transaction
- Building relationships with our clients' key stakeholders
- Building a brand profile and actively contributing to business development
Candidate Profile
- Comprehensive understanding of bank balance sheets, income statements, asset risk, capital, financing, liquidity, and off-balance-sheet liabilities
- Strong technical knowledge of regulatory capital metrics (CET1, Tier 1, total capital, leverage ratio, NSFR)
- Tier 2 and AT1 capital instruments
- EMTN Program Updates and Drawdowns
- Strong communication skills, suitable for interacting with senior-level clients
Requirements
Essential:- 6–9 years of relevant experience in one or more of the following areas: credit rating agency (bank rating team), ideally with senior analytical responsibilities; FIG investment banking; capital advisory or regulatory capital advisory; bank treasury/capital management/ALM
- Direct experience covering banks at a rating agency or advising banks on their interactions with rating agencies
- Strong understanding of banking capital instruments, MREL/TLAC, AT1/Tier 2 issuances, and rating implications
- Experience in executing transactions involving these instruments
- Expert-Level Banking Financial Analysis and Credit Analysis
- Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks, capital instruments, and credit rating agency methodologies
- Ability to conduct complex analyses and question assumptions
