Financial Accountant (m/f/d) in Private Banking

Julius Bär Deutschland AG is seeking a Financial Accountant (m/f/d) in Private Banking who will be responsible for preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, as well as for the tax assessment of corporate structures. The ideal candidate has experience in accounting, particularly in the banking or financial sector, as well as in-depth knowledge of financial reporting in accordance with the German Commercial Code (HGB) and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).

Tasks

The bank’s Accounting & Regulatory Reporting division is a central component of our business operations. Our range of responsibilities is diverse and challenging, and includes:
  • Preparation of Monthly, Quarterly, and Annual Financial Statements
  • Tax Assessment of Corporate Structures with a Focus on Value-Added Tax (including assistance with advance VAT returns and annual VAT returns)
  • Joint responsibility for ongoing accounting processes, particularly in the area of tax accounting
  • Posting and monitoring of ongoing business transactions
  • Active participation in the optimization and further development of accounting processes
  • Contact person for internal and external audit departments

Requirements

We are looking for a candidate with:
  • A bachelor's degree in business administration, finance, or accounting, or a commercial apprenticeship with additional training (e.g., certified accountant)
  • One or more years of professional experience in accounting, ideally in the banking or finance sector
  • Solid background in taxation (particularly in the area of sales tax)
  • In-depth knowledge of accounting under the German Commercial Code (HGB) and a solid understanding of IFRS (particularly for consolidated reporting)
  • Experience in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
  • Experience with Avaloq as a core banking system is preferred
  • Strong aptitude for numbers and an understanding of complex data structures
  • A structured, precise, and solution-oriented approach to work
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • A willingness to learn and an open-minded attitude
  • Excellent written and spoken German and English skills, as well as advanced proficiency in MS Office
  • High level of discretion in handling sensitive financial and banking data
