Financial Accountant (m/f/d) in Private Banking

Julius Bär Deutschland AG is seeking a Financial Accountant (m/f/d) in Private Banking to assist with the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, as well as the tax assessment of business transactions. The ideal candidate holds a degree in business administration, finance, or accounting and has some professional experience in accounting, ideally in the banking or financial sector.

Tasks

The Bank’s Accounting & Regulatory Reporting division is a central component of our business operations. Our range of responsibilities is diverse and demanding. Our tasks include:
  • Assistance with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with the German Commercial Code (HGB) and IFRS reporting
  • Tax assessment of business transactions with a focus on value-added tax (including assistance with advance VAT returns and annual tax returns)
  • Joint responsibility for ongoing accounting processes, particularly in the area of tax accounting
  • Posting and monitoring of ongoing business transactions
  • Active participation in the optimization and further development of accounting processes
  • Contact person for internal and external audit departments

Requirements

We are looking for a candidate with:
  • A bachelor's degree in business administration, finance, or accounting, or a commercial apprenticeship with additional training (e.g., certified public accountant)
  • One or more years of professional experience in accounting, ideally in the banking or finance sector
  • Solid background in taxation (particularly in the area of sales tax)
  • In-depth knowledge of accounting under the German Commercial Code (HGB) and a solid understanding of IFRS (particularly for consolidated reporting)
  • Experience in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
  • Experience with Avaloq as a core banking system is preferred
  • Strong aptitude for numbers and an understanding of complex data structures
  • A structured, precise, and solution-oriented approach to work
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • A willingness to learn and an open-minded attitude
  • Excellent written and spoken German and English skills, as well as advanced proficiency in MS Office
  • High level of discretion in handling sensitive financial and banking data
