Financial Accountant
The role of Financial Accountant in Zurich involves overseeing accounting operations, preparing financial reports, and assisting with regulatory reporting. The ideal candidate has at least 2–3 years of experience in finance, preferably in a banking environment, and strong knowledge of accounting and English.
Tasks
The main tasks include:- Responsibility for the accounts payable process, including invoice control, posting invoices, and making payments via e-banking and Swift
- Management and monitoring of specific internal accounts such as fixed assets, general expenses, depreciation, provisions, and prepayments (including comparison of budgeted and actual figures and reconciliation of IT costs)
- Monitoring the status of the bank's service level agreements (SLA), including validation and payment of invoices
- Preparation of selected group reports and upload to the bank's shared portal (e.g., fixed assets, deposits, auditing, etc.)
- Support in preparing sales tax and regulatory reports for the regulator (e.g., Federal Tax Administration, Swiss National Bank, FINMA)
- Collaboration on various financial projects
Requirements
The requirements for this position are:- Commercial apprenticeship leading to a qualification such as an accountant or bookkeeper, or a comparable education, such as a degree in economics
- At least 2–3 years of professional experience in the financial sector, preferably at a bank with international operations
- Internal candidates: Consistently strong performance in current role (Upper L or expected performance + at least 2 times in the last 3 cycles)
Specific knowledge and skills
The required knowledge and skills are:- Good knowledge of accounting
- Basic knowledge of the banking industry
- Good knowledge of English, German, and/or Portuguese would be an advantage.
- Experience with regulatory and sales tax reporting would be an advantage.
- Ability and interest in working in an international team and environment
- Reliable and accurate operation
