Financial Institutions Credit Officer (Full-Time) (f/m/d)
The Financial Institutions Credit Officer is responsible for assessing and managing credit risks associated with financial institutions and professional counterparties and must have experience in credit risk management and a solid understanding of financial products. The position requires a college degree and at least 5 years of professional experience in this field.
Tasks
The position of Financial Institutions Credit Officer involves the following responsibilities:- Responsibility for all credit risk aspects of a financial institution’s portfolio involving domestic and international professional counterparties (including funds, brokers, and corporations)
- Evaluation, analysis, and structuring of loan applications/transactions
- Detailed risk assessment of counterparties and products
- Ensuring that appropriate risk standards are implemented and adhered to
- Credit services for internal clients
- Determination of the counterparty risk rating
- Preparation and approval of credit limits within the delegated credit approval authority (depending on risk rating and amount)
- Regular review of approved limits within the assigned portfolio
- Ongoing monitoring of credit exposure; resolution of credit issues and limit breaches, including the issuance of margin calls
- Administrative tasks within the portfolio, such as updating and maintaining hierarchies of group companies, approving payments, and ensuring proper credit documentation
- Acting on behalf of other loan officers in their absence
- Supporting relationship managers in all credit-related matters and establishing regular and proactive communication
- Contributing to credit-related projects and process improvements
- Collaborate with the Legal Department to support negotiations on standard commercial agreements (e.g., ISDA/CSA, GMSLA, GMRA)
- Support in calculating expected credit losses (ECL) for the treasury book
Requirements
The following requirements apply to this position:- A university degree (in business administration or economics) or equivalent education or professional qualifications
- At least 5 years of experience in credit risk management at financial institutions or in corporate/investment banking
- Knowledge of derivative products; a background in fixed-income research would be a plus
- Proficiency in MS Office, PowerBI, and other analytical tools
- An independent, efficient, and meticulous approach to work
