Financial Institutions Credit Officer (Full-Time) (f/m/d)

The Julius Baer Group is seeking a Financial Institutions Credit Officer who will be responsible for assessing and managing credit risks associated with financial institutions. The successful candidate should have experience in credit risk management and a solid understanding of financial products and instruments.

Tasks

Responsible for all credit risk aspects of a financial institution’s portfolio of domestic and international professional counterparties (including funds, brokers, and corporations). Assess, analyze, and structure credit applications and transactions. This includes preparing detailed risk assessments of counterparties and products. Ensure that appropriate risk standards are implemented and adhered to. Provide credit services to internal clients.

Tasks in detail

  • Determination of the counterparty's risk class
  • Preparation and approval of credit limits within the delegated credit approval authority (depending on the risk class and the amount)
  • Regular review of approved limits within the assigned portfolio
  • Ongoing monitoring of credit exposure; addressing security gaps and limit breaches, including issuing margin calls
  • Administrative tasks within the portfolio, such as updating and maintaining hierarchies of group companies, approving payments, and ensuring proper credit documentation
  • Acting on behalf of other loan officers in their absence
  • Support relationship managers in all credit-related matters and establish regular and proactive contact
  • Contribution to credit-related projects and process improvements
  • Collaborate with the Legal Department to support negotiations on standard commercial agreements (e.g., ISDA/CSA, GMSLA, GMRA)
  • Support in calculating expected credit losses (ECL) for the treasury book

Requirements

  • A university degree (in business administration or economics) or equivalent education or professional qualifications
  • At least 5 years of experience in credit risk management at financial institutions or in corporate/investment banking
  • Knowledge of derivative products; a background in fixed-income research would be a plus
  • Proficiency in MS Office, PowerBI, and other analytical tools
  • An independent, efficient, and meticulous approach to work
