GAAPS Alternatives | Associate, Client Services

BlackRock is seeking an Associate Client Services professional in Princeton or Seattle to support investor onboarding processes and client relationship management. The ideal candidate has 3–5 years of experience in the financial services sector and excellent organizational and communication skills.

Job Description

The Alternative Client Services (ACS) team provides comprehensive support for BlackRock’s private-market products. The team manages key functions such as investor onboarding, data aggregation, and report distribution, while maintaining close oversight of third-party providers such as transfer agents and tax advisors.

Team Overview

The ACS team operates in two main areas:
  • Product Lifecycle & Investor Servicing: As subject matter experts, this team oversees the investor onboarding lifecycle, including pre-qualification, data submission/validation/completion, AML/KYC verification, and reporting configuration. The team works closely with the private markets business to support product development and governance of service providers.
  • Platform Support & Risk Management: Focuses on standardizing operational processes, monitoring capital activities, managing investments, and ensuring data integrity across systems. This team ensures that accurate and timely reports are produced for investors and regulatory partners.

Tasks

Your daily tasks include:

Product Lifecycle & Investor Servicing:

  • Coordinate client onboarding, fund launches, and trading activities in partnership with transfer agents (TAs) to manage account setup and ensure accurate investor data.
  • Creating and maintaining detailed client profiles, and developing an investor data framework to improve servicing and data management.
  • Delivering a seamless global onboarding experience, managing the delivery of pre- and post-trade communications, providing status updates, and escalating issues as needed.
  • Monitoring document review processes in collaboration with BlackRock Legal and external legal counsel to ensure efficient tracking and implementation of updates.
  • Supporting cash flow processes, coordinating subscriptions, cancellations, and product updates with customers and portfolio managers.
  • Maintaining governance and quality assurance among third-party providers, promoting transparency, and ensuring compliance with global standards.
  • Developing strong internal partnerships to anticipate changes in the product pipeline and evolving business needs.

Platform Support & Risk Management

  • Provide more accurate and timely investor data reports (including account balances, capital calls, distributions, Schedule K-1s, and fund updates).
  • Serve as the central point of contact for client and stakeholder inquiries, research inquiries, and coordinate detailed responses.
  • Manage investor change requests, such as bank account information and contact updates, to ensure proper authorization and accurate system updates.
  • Monitoring capital activities through close collaboration with transfer agents and portfolio management teams.
  • Identifying potential inefficiencies and implementing solutions to mitigate risks, improve data quality, and optimize workflows.
  • Improve regulatory reporting processes by enhancing data integrity and optimizing workflows.
