Global Head of Equity Portfolio Management
The Global Head of Equity Portfolio Management at EFG International in London is responsible for global equity selection, modeling, and the management of equity analysts and global client portfolios. The position requires extensive experience in portfolio construction, strong analytical skills, and the ability to lead a team to achieve long-term outperformance.
Tasks and responsibilities
- Responsible for global stock selection, models, and funds.
- Building equity portfolio models based on geography, sectors, or factors that global fund managers use for their investments.
- Fundamental analysis of individual stocks to support the stock-scoring process.
- Effectively managing a team of equity analysts. Seeking ways to improve and expand the equity analysis process.
- Creating notes and maintaining stock notes related to the stock screening process, which are provided to clients and for internal use.
- Maintaining notes in the relevant database.
- Collaborating with other portfolio managers worldwide to support them in managing large, customized portfolios.
- Management of global client-sector equity portfolios and, potentially, UK multi-asset portfolios.
- Communicate analyses and findings to team members and the rest of EFG, as appropriate.
- Participation in customer-oriented courses and contribution to other EFG courses, as appropriate.
- Delivering a robust investment process and sound reasoning when it comes to equity portfolio managers.
- The goal is to outperform the benchmark over the long term (3 years) in a manner commensurate with the level of risk.
- Monitoring and ad hoc communication to explain performance and decisions made to CROs and clients.
- Support the marketing department in providing appropriate marketing materials.
- Compliance with and maintenance of knowledge of all applicable laws, including relevant statements of principles, the Code of Conduct for Authorized Persons, and training.
- Treating customers fairly and acting in their best interests at every stage by providing them with transparent, efficient, and professional service.
Requirements and Experience
- Extensive experience in managing global equity research and portfolio construction processes.
- A degree in mathematics or economics (2:1 or higher).
- Demonstrable understanding of products and the regulatory framework.
- Strong technical and digital skills—experience with ShareView (preferred).
- Strong oral and written communication skills, with fluency in English.
- Ability to present data in a meaningful way—using KPIs and charts—to an audience of senior stakeholders.
- Strong IT skills, with specialized knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Strong Excel spreadsheet skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Team-oriented and able to build effective working relationships.
