Global Markets Compliance (6-Month Contract)

Nomura is seeking a compliance expert for a 6-month contract position in London to support the Global Markets team in the wholesale division. Job Description

  • We are looking for professionals to support the Global Markets Compliance team within Wholesale on short-term contracts due to several projects across our business. The focus is on the derivatives business (interest rate derivatives, credit products, FX and equity-based products, including CFDs, swaps, and options/ETFs; IFID, MAR, EMIR, and short selling).
  • We will provide you with the opportunity to gain exposure to various areas of compliance within our business. Senior compliance managers will work closely with you in this role.

Job Responsibilities

  • As a key stakeholder in relevant regulations (e.g., MiFID II, with a particular focus on Article 28 of the Markets in Financial Instruments Directive (MiFID II), MAR
  • Staying current on regulatory changes that affect the company and providing support and briefings to the firm and regulators regarding any changes.
  • Analyzing and evaluating new regulations and briefing senior management accordingly
  • Participating in internal and external inquiries, including on-site reviews
  • Providing regular and ad hoc training to the business on new regulations and ensuring that the relevant company policies are in place
  • Understanding and staying current with the firm's business operations, including ensuring that the necessary controls are in place to ensure compliance.
  • Conducting regular and ad hoc monitoring and reviews in accordance with an approved work program to help ensure that the business complies with applicable laws.

Required Skills, Experience, Qualifications, and Knowledge

  • Knowledge of the rules and regulations relevant to the Global Markets business is a prerequisite
  • Experience in a trading floor or business-facing compliance role is a prerequisite
  • Strong analytical skills and excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to work well under pressure and switch between tasks quickly
  • Excellent communication skills, including written and verbal
  • Methodical, with excellent attention to detail
  • Well-developed analytical skills and the ability to distill large amounts of information for effective reporting and analysis
  • Extensive experience working across multiple time zones and managing deadlines
  • Fluent English language skills, with excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience working in relevant areas of the compliance field and with the regulations governing the markets in which you will be working
