Nomura is seeking a compliance expert in London for its Global Markets division under a 6-month contract. The role involves monitoring trading risks, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements (e.g., MiFID II, EMIR), and carrying out KYC and AML processes.

Job Brief

  • Play a key role in a trading desk environment across three functions –
    • monitoring and maintaining risk and control standards on a
    • staying up to date on relevant regulatory changes and updates;
    • maintaining client onboarding procedures, including KYC, AML, AML (in
    • as a key stakeholder in relevant regulations (e.g., MiFID II, EMIR, MAR, EMIR, Short Selling)
    • keeping the scope up to date with regulatory changes that affect the business
    • analyzing and evaluating new regulations and briefing senior management accordingly
    • contributing to the ongoing compliance function across the business
    • serving as a stakeholder in regulatory projects, tracking progress and implementation
    • participating in internal and external inquiries, including reviews, investigations, and the provision of regular and ad hoc training to the business
    • the provision of accurate and timely management information
    • understanding and staying current on the firm's business operations and the markets in which it operates to ensure that appropriate compliance controls are in place
    • conducting regular and ad hoc desk monitoring and reviews

Required skills, experience, qualifications, and knowledge

  • Knowledge of rules and regulations relevant to a Global Markets business (UK, EU, trading venue, cross-border, etc.)
  • Enhanced knowledge of equity derivatives trading (e.g., T+3, clearing, margin, cross-border, etc.)
  • Knowledge of FINTRAC and applicable regulations (UK, US, etc.)
  • A desire to learn and a commitment to continuous self-improvement
  • A proactive approach to resolving client issues
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to meet tight deadlines
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in the preparation, analysis, evaluation, and delivery of work
  • Strong analytical and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure and switch between tasks quickly
  • Commercial awareness and the ability to manage stakeholders in a complex trading environment
  • Ability to communicate effectively with salespeople, departments, and relevant partners

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Computer literacy and a good knowledge of Excel and Word
