Governance & Risk Oversight Manager, Legal & Compliance

The Governance & Risk Oversight Manager supports the COO in leading compliance risk management and ensures regulatory compliance at a global private banking firm. The role involves monitoring risks, developing controls, and reporting to senior management.

Job Description

This senior role is at the heart of the Legal & Compliance COO Office and directly supports the COO in leading the Group’s compliance risk management and control agenda. The role provides structure, coordination, and oversight of all key compliance risk processes. As the COO’s delegate on selected committees and internal governance forums, the holder of this role also collaborates with the Global & Swiss Head of PCC and the Global & Swiss Head of CIC to ensure risk alignment and manageable reporting on the compliance function.

Main tasks

The main tasks include:
  • Risk Framework Governance: Global points of contact for all matters related to the Legal & Compliance Risk Framework
  • Management and Monitoring of Risks and Controls
  • Compliance Risk Assessment (CRA): Leading the annual compliance risk assessment for all units
  • Governance and Monitoring of Key Risks and Performance Indicators
  • Governance, COO Support: Providing risk information and briefing materials to the COO and the Group Head of Legal and Compliance for governance meetings

Tasks in detail

The tasks include:
  • Risk Framework Governance: Maintenance and Regular Review of the Taxonomy and Classification of Compliance Risks
  • Risk and Control Management and Monitoring: Design and Documentation of 2LOD Regulatory Controls for the Legal & Compliance Function
  • Compliance Risk Assessment (CRA): Consolidation of Results and Creation of Reports and Dashboards at the Executive Level
  • Management and Monitoring of Key Risks and Performance Indicators: Consolidation and analysis of reported data, trends, and actions taken by local teams and experts

Requirements

The requirements include:
  • Solid understanding of compliance environments and internal control frameworks in banking or financial services
  • Autonomy, reliability, and a strong sense of personal responsibility; able to deliver results in fast-paced and high-stakes situations
  • Global mindset; excellent communication skills; able to build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders
  • Excellent analytical and report-writing skills (Excel, PowerPoint; Power BI is a plus)
  • Fluent English
  • At least 10+ years of experience in financial crime compliance, sanctions consulting, or internal controls at private banks or financial institutions
