Head of Investment Risk, Discretionary

Man Group is seeking a "Head of Investment Risk, Discretionary" in London to lead an experienced team and oversee the company's risk management strategy. The ideal candidate will have at least 10 years of experience in investment risk management and excellent communication and quantitative skills.

Tasks

  • Strategic leadership of the Discretionary Risk Management team, fostering a culture of excellence and high performance
  • Cultivating and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders, including portfolio managers, senior management, clients, and regulatory authorities
  • Managing risks by monitoring and assessing risk exposures across all funds and assets managed by Discretionary
  • Chairing the Discretionary Risk Committee, setting the agenda, and implementing measures
  • Promoting continuous improvements in risk management methodologies, frameworks, and tools
  • Development and maintenance of risk management frameworks for Discretionary and the entire Man Group
  • Development, implementation, and oversight of strategic risk projects from conception through completion
  • Implementation and integration of the global risk management framework across all business units
  • Ensuring that risk issues are resolved in a timely manner, prioritizing them based on materiality, significance, and potential impact

Requirements

  • A graduate degree in a relevant field (e.g., finance, mathematics, economics, or a related field)
  • At least 10 years of experience in investment risk management (or extensive experience in investment risk management or compliance/risk and/or audit and/or insurance)
  • Proven experience in discretionary risk management (required)
  • Strong technical foundation with a deep understanding of multi-asset class risk management (essential)
  • Knowledge of AI/machine learning applications and Python programming (required)
  • Proven experience in leadership, team development, and mentorship (required)
  • Excellent numerical and analytical skills
  • Comprehensive understanding of risk modeling, stress testing, and other risk management techniques
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex risk concepts to a variety of audiences
