Head of Market Data Feeds (Java Software Engineer), Vice President, Wholesale Data Technology, London (hybrid working)

Role Overview

This position is for a Technical Lead who will lead the development of real-time market data feeds within the Data Lake team. We are looking for a Lead Java Software Engineer to join our Wholesale Data and Operations Technology team. This position will serve as the technical lead for real-time market data acquisition and processing and will play a key role in designing the architecture, implementation, and ongoing evolution of our comprehensive data lake platform with a focus on low latency and high throughput of market data ingestion.

- Real-time market data feed engineering and optimization - Integration with Thomson Reuters Enterprise Platform (TREP) - Bloomberg API and data feed management - Direct venue connectivity and market data protocols - Low-latency data processing and distribution architectures

Responsibilities

- Work closely with cross-functional teams to translate complex business requirements into scalable technical solutions - Provide technical mentorship and leadership to junior team members while establishing architectural standards that guide development efforts - Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend strategic improvements to enhance data acquisition capabilities and overall platform performance - Develop innovative approaches to data profiling, anomaly detection, and quality metrics reporting to provide stakeholders with comprehensive insights into data quality and provenance - Establish and maintain documentation standards, best practices, and governance frameworks for data acquisition and quality assurance processes - Lead architectural discussions and technical design decisions

Requirements

- Experience: Experienced Java software engineer with extensive professional development experience and a proven track record of delivering enterprise solutions - Primary skills:

• Strong communication and documentation skills
• Proven leadership skills with a demonstrable track record of success in mentoring and developing junior engineers, promoting technical growth, and knowledge transfer within development teams
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to create comprehensive technical documentation, present complex concepts to various stakeholders, and facilitate cross-functional collaboration
