Head of Operations

The Head of Operations in Abu Dhabi is responsible for the strategic leadership and oversight of daily offshore and onshore operations in the oil and gas sector. The position requires at least five years of experience in operations management, with a focus on safety, compliance, and operational excellence.

Tasks

  • Operational Leadership (Including operations-related budgets)
    • Provide strategic leadership to support operations oversight, including drilling units, remote production systems, and the offshore supply chain
    • Oversee daily operations at production facilities, remote locations, and onshore facilities. Manage all direct work activities using safety, quality assurance, HSE, mechanical, ODM, and IT systems to ensure compliance and performance. Also responsible for delivering projects on time and within budget.
    • Ensure compliance is maintained in all operational areas, including operating standards for mechanical systems, HSE, safety systems, and regulatory agencies
    • Manage communication and reporting for operational and performance reporting and control systems
    • Provide guidance on performance plans related to operations, operational systems, and equipment-specific systems
  • Drill and Produce Wellheads (Including COPE Management)
    • Use the field operating system to develop and maintain the COPE (COntrolled Production Ensemble) management system, as well as the field, surface reservoir, and equipment management and monitoring systems
    • Provide operational governance for compliance and operational planning, including the use of management training, leading the implementation of field maintenance, and HSE implementation
    • Provide critical technical oversight of critical infrastructure systems and equipment throughout all drilling, construction, and operation processes for surface and underground reservoir and equipment management
    • Oversee operational plans, quality, service integrity, and compliance with safety regulations
  • Reporting to senior operations management
    • Coordinate with and through the Director of Petroleum (DPC) regarding corporate operations support systems. Provide operational, well operations, and production planning, and ensure operational excellence. Drive the transition from conventional to low-carbon and methane recovery drilling operations, and implement the DPC’s policy and operational plans. Coordinate and lead the management of operations at offshore facilities. Create an effective, resilient customer service culture and provide operational excellence reports to customer operations.
  • Innovation, Technology, and Operational Improvements
    • Direct the staff and the operational leadership team to optimize operating plans, equipment operation, equipment maintenance, and maintenance operational plans for offshore and onshore drilling
    • Monitor ongoing drilling supervision activities, as well as those related to exploration operations, equipment development, technology management, and drilling processes
    • Lead design and maintenance management activities, drilling unit operations, and offshore drilling equipment; manage technology and control systems; and develop operational reporting systems in accordance with the budget and operational delivery plans
    • Implement performance management processes, equipment, and operations reporting, including operational plans and performance reports to senior operations management teams
    • Monitor operational reporting requirements at the corporate and sector levels; conduct operational and safety management reviews; and ensure compliance with operating guidelines and HSE management systems
    • Coordinate operational activities, including operations performance management and related operational reports, and provide input to corporate and regulatory oversight bodies
  • Risk Management, Standards, and Quality
    • Monitor safety, quality, and compliance (health, environment, safety, and regulatory) at the corporate level in conjunction with global project activities and functional groups (e.g., operational leadership). Oversee safety, quality, and compliance (including HSE, environmental, and health & safety)
    • Implement safety systems and emergency response plans; ensure quality assurance, safety, and compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, standards, and rules (drilling operations, safety, and compliance) as well as regulatory requirements and standards
    • Lead the development and implementation of operating plans and quality assurance program measures, equipment standards, and environmental compliance requirements to ensure operational success
    • Define, lead, and monitor operations, as well as the overall operational impact of operational performance reporting, including the development of operational, safety, and quality assurance systems
    • Oversee operational performance, including quality assurance and regulatory compliance, and ensure that operational management and safety standards are met in accordance with the budget and regulatory and quality assurance requirements

Requirements

  • Education
    • A bachelor's degree in engineering, business administration, management, or a related field is required
    • Relevant degree or equivalent qualifications in leadership, operations, and analytics (a well-established)
  • Professional Experience
    • Master's degree or equivalent in a technical or managerial field
