Head of Technology Control Assurance

The Head of Technology Control Assurance role at Northern Trust involves leading a team responsible for implementing, developing and maintaining a technology control assurance program to ensure IT systems are compliant with risk tolerances and regulatory requirements. The incumbent will make strategic decisions and lead the implementation of control measures and risk management processes across Northern Trust's technology organization.

Tasks

  • Set strategy and direction for the implementation, development and maintenance of the technology control security program consistent with the organization's overall risk management framework.
  • Oversee a risk-focused program to monitor technology processes, risk and control frameworks (RIC) and IT controls and practices to ensure technology standards and global regulatory requirements are met.
  • Set strategy and oversee the execution of a comprehensive control security function, including risk and control based self-assessments by technology management.
  • Established and matured a data-driven and automated application risk assessment and infrastructure risk assessment program.
  • Coordinate planning, execution and reporting of external technology security reports (e.g. SOC1, SOC2 and SOX reports) globally.
  • Advise technology leaders to utilize automation and analytics to enable control automation and continuous control monitoring.
  • Provide control-based decision information to technology leadership to ensure the operational state of the environment meets safety expectations.

Requirements

  • In-depth knowledge and experience in the areas of information security, IT auditing and/or IT risk management.
  • In-depth knowledge of assessments of IT-related processes such as information security, system development and change management, computer operations and data protection.
  • Experience with GRC systems (e.g. ServiceNow) preferred.
  • Experience in automation and analytics preferred.
  • Strong collaboration and relationship management skills, including executive relationship experience.
  • Proactive, dynamic leadership and strategic thinking.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Professional experience

  • A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, information technology, management information systems, computer science or a related field.
  • Minimum 10+ years of experience in technology risk management, controls functions, audit services or similar experience with transferable skills.

Salary and benefits

  • Salary range: $137,400 - $246,400 USD
