HR Consultant
The HR Consultant at Julius Baer supports senior management and their teams in personnel matters and provides comprehensive HR services to meet the needs of managers and employees. The role includes personnel management, recruitment, performance management, and compensation, as well as support for personnel development initiatives.
Tasks
- Provides advice on all personnel matters and supports functional/business heads and their management teams in personnel-related issues, planning, and decision-making.
- Advises and coaches line managers to ensure compliance with regulatory and legal requirements throughout the employee lifecycle
- Supports the implementation of the HR strategy in line with the bank's strategy and the business strategy
- Supports/coaches functional/business heads in their human capital management activities (strategic human resources management, succession planning, talent management, low performer process, etc.)
- Collaboration with the various HR Centers of Excellence, both locally and with Zurich
- Maintains good working relationships with external recruiters and suppliers

- Use appropriate channels to facilitate the search for candidates for open positions.
- Provides meaningful and balanced assessments of shortlisted candidates, enabling managers to make informed hiring decisions
- Proposes hiring conditions that are consistent with the bank's compensation philosophy and aligned with external benchmarks and internal fairness.
- Manages the hiring approval process
Performance management and compensation
- Collaborate with functional/business heads and their management teams in administering the performance management process (goal setting, mid-year review, year-end review, performance appraisal calibration, and potential evaluation exercises)
- Supports the performance improvement plan (PIP) process with managers
- Manages the compensation process with managers (e.g., compensation benchmarking, job matching, ad hoc/year-end compensation review processes, etc.)
Employee matters and disciplinary measures
- Handles employee matters in a fair, sensitive, and balanced manner
- Supports managers and control functions in handling disciplinary matters and violations

- Leads internal projects that are assigned from time to time
- Participates in and contributes to other internal projects
Requirements
- Strong ability to influence and partner with senior leadership
- Forward-thinking and solution-oriented
- Ability to balance business needs with personnel strategy, as well as excellent communication skills
- Rational thinking
- Ability to empathize with people and connect with them
- 12-15 years of experience as an HR all-rounder, preferably in a banking environment
- Competent in a wide range of HR functions (e.g., recruitment, performance management, compensation, employee relations, etc.)
- Up to date with the latest developments in legal and regulatory matters
