Real Estate Specialist

Banque Cantonale de Fribourg is seeking an experienced real estate expert to evaluate properties used as collateral for loans. The position involves conducting real estate appraisals, analyzing risks, and preparing appraisal reports.

Your main tasks

  • Conducting real estate appraisals in accordance with Swiss market standards and applicable regulations, as well as within the framework of internal guidelines on areas of expertise
  • Conducting on-site inspections, analyzing the condition of the properties, their surroundings, their potential, and the associated risks
  • Preparation of comprehensive, documented valuation reports that comply with internal and regulatory requirements
  • Review of property appraisals delegated to the sales organization
  • Contributing to the continuous improvement of valuation models and internal processes
  • Monitoring the Swiss real estate market, including regional trends, price trends, and changes in risk, in collaboration with the Credit Risk Management and Monitoring Team
  • Monitoring and analyzing real estate market trends in collaboration with the relevant risk management team
  • Representing the bank in dealings with external partners (e.g., licensed external real estate experts, architects, property managers, etc.)

Your profile

  • Advanced education in real estate, architecture, engineering, business, finance, or a related field
  • Recognized certification in real estate appraisal (e.g., USP, SVIT, SIV, or training as a real estate expert with a federal certificate or MAS/DAS/CAS)
  • Substantial experience (at least 3–5 years) in real estate valuation in Switzerland, with a strong understanding of the Swiss real estate market and its regional and cantonal characteristics
  • Proficiency in various valuation methods (e.g., hedonic, capitalization, income approach, DCF, net asset value, etc.)
  • Proficiency in using digital assessment tools (particularly Wüest Dimensions) and banking systems
  • Banking experience is a plus
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to make well-informed and well-reasoned decisions
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; native speaker of French or German with a good command of the other language
