Infrastructure Engineer - Platform Engineering

Man Group is seeking an experienced Infrastructure Engineer for a 12-month permanent position to focus on infrastructure modernization and assist in the implementation of critical projects. The candidate will be part of the technical project team and will focus on managing servers, hypervisor platforms and automating tasks.

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Infrastructure Engineer to join our team in London. The role is a 12 month fixed term contract and offers the opportunity to work on critical projects and day to day management of the infrastructure.

Tasks

  • Review alerts and data in Grafana to understand the state of the infrastructure
  • Answering BMU requests in Slack and ServiceNow
  • Work on projects to improve the safety and efficiency of the infrastructure
  • Regular communication with cross-functional teams and stakeholders

What can you learn?

  • Managing servers on a large scale with modern open source tools such as Ansible, Terraform and Grafana
  • Large-scale management of hypervisor platforms such as VMware and OpenStack
  • Automation with service tools and stack integration
  • Deep understanding of data center infrastructure and enterprise architecture
  • Knowledge of the public cloud

Requirements

Required skills and experience:

  • Technical experience through open source contributions, 2+ years of relevant industry experience
  • Experience in the administration and maintenance of Windows servers on a large scale
  • Experience in automating tasks or writing scripts in languages such as PowerShell, Python or Bash
  • Experience in environments where change control is required
  • In-depth understanding of the Windows platform and its components, e.g. Active Directory, failover clusters

Desired skills and experience:

  • Understanding of source control and continuous deployment workflows with tools such as Git
  • Self-organizing with the ability to prioritize and manage time effectively
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • Strong troubleshooting skills
  • Self-starters with a desire to learn and understand more about the business environment
  • Experience with hardware and data centers
  • Experience and understanding of network protocols
