About the job

We are looking for an Investment Risk Manager to join our team in New York to oversee our discretionary strategies.

Tasks

  • Ensure that risks are well monitored and overseen across all funds and develop expertise in our risk management processes and infrastructure
  • Work closely with portfolio managers and investment teams to understand the current risk profile and identify emerging risks and issues
  • Understanding, explaining and escalating risk and performance factors of strategies across the group
  • Escalate relevant information to senior management in a timely and clear manner to inform their risk management decisions
  • Conduct qualitative research on risk measurement and risk management techniques, working closely with various teams (Portfolio Managers, Strategies, Investment Risk) to inform and develop risk management and investment strategies for the team
  • Further development of the man risk management process and promotion of awareness and good risk management practices across all functions
  • Performing ad hoc risk analysis and proactively sharing forward-looking risk analysis with the team, senior management and portfolio managers
  • Assist with regulatory, client and marketing inquiries and other tasks as required by the wider Man Group from time to time

Requirements

  • Very strong academic qualifications, preferably in STEM
  • Experience in a risk or compliance role, monitoring investment portfolios and performance risk management techniques
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills
  • Python or similar programming skills
  • Experience in working directly with management and investment teams
  • Project management skills, including time management, tasking and collaboration with various stakeholders
