IT Change and Release Manager
The IT Change and Release Manager is responsible for overseeing the entire lifecycle of application changes, from development to deployment and post-deployment review. The manager ensures that upgrades to critical systems are carried out smoothly while minimizing business disruption.
Job description: IT Change and Release Manager
Tasks
- Overseeing the full lifecycle of application changes for Information Services, from design and development through to testing and deployment and post implementation evaluation
- Ensuring smooth upgrades of critical systems while maintaining business operations through close collaboration with development, testing and infrastructure units while adhering to compliance standards
Main tasks
- Change management
- Release Management:
- Creation of comprehensive release plans, including scheduling, dependencies and communication strategies for application deployments
- Management of release windows, coordination with development, test and infrastructure units to ensure sufficient advance notification for production
- Conduct release readiness reviews and go/no-go reviews to assess the quality and readiness of releases
- Manage issues and risks during the change window and escalate to stakeholders as required
- Conduct post-release retrospectives to address issues and ensure completion of action items
- Collaboration and communication:
- Act as main point of contact between IT teams, business units and external vendors for change and release activities
- Communicate the impact of changes and releases to technical and non-technical stakeholders to ensure clear understanding and alignment
- Collaborate with business partners to understand requirements and prioritize application changes
- Promoting communication between technical teams and business users during the change and release lifecycle
- Provide clear and timely status updates on release progress to key stakeholders
- Process improvement:
- Continuous evaluation and optimization of release management processes to improve efficiency and reduce risks
- Identification of opportunities for automation within the change and release lifecycle
- Monitor release metrics and KPIs to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions
Requirements
- 2+ years of experience in IT service transition
- Bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, business administration or a related field
- Combination of technical, business and interpersonal skills and competencies
- Strong understanding of the software development life cycle (SDLC) and agile methods
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Proven experience in managing application releases in a complex financial services environment
- Expertise in change management processes and best practices
- Technical knowledge of automation tools, processes and technologies
- Proven strong leadership and problem solving skills
- Critical thinking and problem solving
