The IT System Administrator Supervisor (m/f/d) is responsible for the monitoring, maintenance and security of IT systems and for managing a team of system administrators and IT support staff. Tasks also include coordinating with other departments and managing suppliers.

Tasks

Key tasks:

Management tasks:
  • Lead, supervise and support a team of system administrators and IT support staff.
  • Assign and prioritize tasks, projects and daily operational support.
  • Provide performance reviews, coaching and development opportunities for team members.
  • Serve as an escalation point for complex technical problems.
  • Coordinate with other departments to ensure IT support meets business needs.
  • Participate in the recruitment, induction and training of new IT staff.
  • Vendor management.
Technical tasks:
  • Supervising the installation, configuration, maintenance and troubleshooting of servers, networks and system hardware/software.
  • Monitoring of system performance, availability and security.
  • Management of Active Directory, group policies, DNS, DHCP and e-mail systems.
  • Management of backup systems, disaster recovery plans and security compliance.
  • Ensuring timely patches and system updates.
  • Documentation of system architecture, configurations and operating procedures.
  • Asset management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5+ years experience in system administration, with 1-2 years experience in a leadership or team management role.
  • Strong experience with Windows/Linux servers, virtualization (VMware/Hyper-V) and network infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices and IT compliance (e.g. ISO, HIPAA, GDPR) is an advantage.
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as Microsoft 365, Azure or AWS.
  • Strong leadership, communication and organizational skills.
  • Relevant certifications preferred (e.g. CompTIA Server+, Microsoft MCSA/MCSE, Cisco CCNA, ITIL, AWS).
  • Fluent in English; Portuguese and/or German is desirable.

Working conditions

  • Hybrid mode (present 3 times a week).
  • May be required at night or on weekends during system upgrades or emergencies.
  • On-call responsibility for critical infrastructure problems.
