Tasks
Key tasks:
Management tasks:
- Lead, supervise and support a team of system administrators and IT support staff.
- Assign and prioritize tasks, projects and daily operational support.
- Provide performance reviews, coaching and development opportunities for team members.
- Serve as an escalation point for complex technical problems.
- Coordinate with other departments to ensure IT support meets business needs.
- Participate in the recruitment, induction and training of new IT staff.
- Vendor management.
Technical tasks:
- Supervising the installation, configuration, maintenance and troubleshooting of servers, networks and system hardware/software.
- Monitoring of system performance, availability and security.
- Management of Active Directory, group policies, DNS, DHCP and e-mail systems.
- Management of backup systems, disaster recovery plans and security compliance.
- Ensuring timely patches and system updates.
- Documentation of system architecture, configurations and operating procedures.
- Asset management.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5+ years experience in system administration, with 1-2 years experience in a leadership or team management role.
- Strong experience with Windows/Linux servers, virtualization (VMware/Hyper-V) and network infrastructure.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices and IT compliance (e.g. ISO, HIPAA, GDPR) is an advantage.
- Experience with cloud platforms such as Microsoft 365, Azure or AWS.
- Strong leadership, communication and organizational skills.
- Relevant certifications preferred (e.g. CompTIA Server+, Microsoft MCSA/MCSE, Cisco CCNA, ITIL, AWS).
- Fluent in English; Portuguese and/or German is desirable.
Working conditions
- Hybrid mode (present 3 times a week).
- May be required at night or on weekends during system upgrades or emergencies.
- On-call responsibility for critical infrastructure problems.
