IT System Administrator

The IT Systems Administrator is responsible for the stability, security, and day-to-day operation of the bank’s IT infrastructure in cloud, on-premises, and hybrid environments. The role combines in-depth technical expertise with hands-on operations, including routine system administration tasks and the independent resolution of complex issues.

Tasks and responsibilities

The role of Senior IT System Administrator involves ensuring the stability, security, and day-to-day operation of the company’s IT infrastructure in cloud, on-premises, and hybrid environments. Responsibilities include:
  • Hands-on administration of Windows and Linux servers in cloud and hybrid environments
  • Provisioning, configuration, and maintenance of cloud resources (computing power, storage, networking)
  • Monitoring systems, networks, and cloud platforms to ensure availability and performance
  • Handling and resolving infrastructure, network, and security incidents, including routine operational issues
  • Implementation and maintenance of security controls (MFA, firewalls, endpoint protection, patching)
  • Identity and Access Management (Active Directory, IAM, GPOs, DNS, DHCP)
  • Management of backup, replication, and disaster recovery tasks, including regular validation
  • Support for LAN/WAN, VPNs, and hybrid cloud connections
  • Applying system updates, patches, and configuration changes in accordance with established procedures
  • Automation of operational and maintenance tasks using scripts (PowerShell, Bash)
  • Documentation of configurations, procedures, and operational changes
  • Participation in infrastructure and security projects
  • Staying informed about cybersecurity threats and infrastructure best practices
  • On-call rotation for critical infrastructure support
  • Occasional night shifts or weekend work for maintenance or incident response

Requirements

The following requirements are necessary:
  • Degree in IT, computer science, or equivalent practical experience
  • 5+ years of experience in system administration or IT infrastructure roles
  • Extensive hands-on experience with:
    • Windows and Linux Server Administration
    • Virtualization (VMware / Hyper-V)
    • Network Fundamentals
  • Experience with Azure, Microsoft 365, and/or AWS
  • Solid understanding of security principles and IT compliance frameworks (ISO, HIPAA, GDPR – preferred)
  • Confidence when performing routine operations and advanced troubleshooting independently
  • English required; Portuguese and/or Spanish preferred
  • Experience performing similar tasks in similar highly regulated industries is preferred

Certifications (Preferred)

The following certifications are preferred:
  • Azure Administrator (AZ-104)
  • AWS Certification
  • CompTIA Security+ and/or Network+
  • CCNA or ITIL Fundamentals
