IT Trading & Treasury Solutions Specialist

EFG International is seeking an IT Trading & Treasury Solutions Specialist in Lugano, Switzerland, to support and further develop the IT platforms for trading and treasury. The ideal candidate will have a university degree in computer science or finance and experience with programming languages, databases, and financial products.

Job Description

The IT Treasury and Trading Department provides efficient and effective support as well as IT solutions for applications and processes in order execution, trading, treasury, and credit/collateral management. The team consists of functional and technical experts who support a trading/treasury team of approximately 50 traders. This role ensures continuity in client support and drives continuous improvements in delivery quality.

Main tasks

  • End-to-end support on IT trading platforms for securities lending and collateral, Islamic finance, and securities and derivatives trading—ranging from application maintenance to the analysis and resolution of daily incidents, including communication with external providers.
  • As a starting point for broader issues that require communication with other IT departments or with operations teams (securities, derivatives, foreign exchange back office, middle office).
  • Coordinating and implementing various IT projects aimed at further developing or upgrading IT trading platforms, whether developed and deployed in-house or provided by application vendors.
  • Development of departmental applications to address gaps in existing IT systems, primarily in the areas of system integration and reporting.
  • Management of tools for automating health checks on trading IT platforms to ensure service for internal customers.

Requirements

  • A university degree, preferably in computer science, finance, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in programming languages (Java, Python, C++, SQL, PowerShell, etc.), application servers (primarily Windows and Linux), and database systems (Oracle, MS SQL).
  • Strong knowledge of financial products (foreign exchange, securities, derivatives, securities lending) and core banking processes (order execution in the market for standard products).
  • Excellent analytical skills, a curiosity about IT, and a proactive approach to identifying the best technical solution for a business need.
  • Ability to work under constant pressure.
  • Flexibility (request to work shifts, on public holidays, or Saturdays).
  • Ability to integrate into a broader IT team and good teamwork skills.
  • Good communication skills (Italian-English are required, French is a plus).
