Java Engineer

The Java Engineer is responsible for the stability of production systems, supports incident resolution and implements efficiency improvements through automation and process optimization. The candidate should have 5-7 years of experience in Java, J2EE, Spring Boot and other technologies.

Job description: Java Engineer

Tasks

  • Support business units and other IT teams to ensure the stability of production systems
  • Ensure that priority incidents are resolved in a timely manner to avoid major incidents or outages and ensure resolution within SLA's; perform root cause analysis and provide solutions or workarounds for incidents
  • Debugging problems, incidents and providing solutions through hands-on development
  • Ensuring smooth operation of batch processes/applications through proactive, regular health checks
  • Support for planned weekend activities, participation in disaster recovery events and release testing events
  • Proactive coordination with upstream and downstream application teams in the event of risks or potential problems
  • Proactively identifying and implementing opportunities to increase efficiency through automation and process improvements
  • Taking responsibility and driving learning initiatives, building a knowledge base within the team and working independently
  • Participate in engineering work, i.e. system design, build, deployment and testing
  • Develop and maintain excellent relationships and communication with global stakeholders, other IT teams and business units
  • Flexibility to work in early APAC and EMEA time zones
  • Management of change requests and approvals
  • Support with audit and compliance activities
  • Ability to work with vendors and support staff on support tickets and follow up regularly until a resolution is found

Requirements

Minimum qualification:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or engineering
  • 5-7 years of extensive professional experience in Unix, SQL, Oracle, ODI2, Data Warehouse, Java, J2EE, Spring Boot, Messaging, Websphere, ETL, Data Stage, PL/SQL

Required skills:

  • Professional experience with master data management, data quality, regulatory reporting, reference data
  • Good professional experience in the development of applications in Java, J2EE, ETL, Data Stage, PL/SQL, Data Warehouse, Spring Boot

Further requirements:

  • Firm understanding of ITIL process guidelines, with particular focus on Service Operations and Incident Management
  • Exposure to agile practices (Scrum/Kanban)
  • Experience with ITSM Service Now tool and Dynatrace would be an advantage
  • Self-motivated to initiate actions and be responsible for the consequences
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to quickly identify the scope and impact of issues in high pressure situations
  • Solid communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills, drive and ownership
  • Knowledge of the financial markets
