Java Senior Software Engineer, hybrid, Assistant Vice President

Your new role

• Contribute to 6+ individual contributors within a mix of top priority projects using Agile methodology
• Analyze, design, develop, test and debug large and complex software enhancements and solutions within Charles River's business and technical problem areas
• Collaborate with business analysts and product managers to create simple and sustainable software solutions to complex problems
• Direct project planning for important phases of projects to solve technical software problems
• Design, development, testing and implementation of software programs, applications and projects using Java, C#, JavaScript or other relevant software engineering languages
• Provide sound guidance and critical analysis of proposed changes in code reviews
• Writing unit and automation tests to ensure a high-quality product
• Identify opportunities to improve development test methods for contribution and related test methodology frameworks
• Carrying out manual tests to ensure a high-quality product
• Provision of troubleshooting for large, critical client implementations
• Participation in the agile software development process through participation in daily stand-ups, sprint planning, backlog grooming and retrospectives
• Planning and coordination of activities via team groups to fulfill tasks
• Mentoring and guidance for junior engineers
• Demonstration of greater independence in design and development

What we value

• 4-6 years of experience in Java development - preferably in the FinTech sector (financial markets)
• B.S. degree (or foreign educational degree) in computer science, engineering or other technical field of study preferred; M.S. degree strongly preferred
• Experience in front-end to back-end development, constantly using React
• Experience in the development of cloud-native solutions (Azure experience a bonus)
• Knowledge of SQL and experience with RIMS/DBMS
• Kafka, Snowflakes, Kubernetes, Tomcat are seen as strong assets
