Java Solution Architect with Azure

Job Description

• We are seeking an experienced Java Solution Architect to lead the migration to a new platform and modernization of mission-critical IBM/Microsoft applications. This role requires expertise in Java Spring Boot and Hibernate architecture, application modernization, cloud-native design, integration services, and microservices, as well as adherence to coding standards, while ensuring security, reusability, and standard operational efficiencies throughout the modernization process.
• The successful candidate will bring deep expertise in Java enterprise application architectures, event-driven application architectures, legacy modernization, microservices architectures, and multi-platform modernization technologies. You will report directly to program managers and work with cross-functional teams throughout the transformation process to streamline process tools and modernize the client’s mission-critical systems.

Key Responsibilities

Application Modernization & Operations

• Define the target partitioning or integration modernization roadmap for migrating monolithic/EC2 applications to Azure.
• Lead platform engineering's transformation of legacy applications into cloud-native, microservice-based architectures.
• Define modernization patterns (service decoupling, domain boundaries, event-driven patterns, and event-based strategies)
• Build APIs and SPAs.
• Define common architectural standards, domain boundaries, integration controls, and service standards.
• Design batch, time-series, and event-driven processing pipelines.
• Design model-driven models, direct reporting, and documentation frameworks to accelerate cloud-based application development.
• Establish best practices for application security, reliability, fault tolerance, and performance optimization.

Azure Cloud Architect

• Define and migrate application features between on-premises, cloud environments, and containers.
• Enforce design patterns across on-premises and cloud architectures to ensure scalability and operational efficiencies.
• Design and transform infrastructures and build APIs based on Azure Portal features.
• Gaining expertise in integrating CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps and GitHub Actions.
• Evaluate Docker container hosting operating systems, security policies, deployments, and automation and monitoring capabilities.
• Prioritize non-functional aspects such as processing and distributed systems.

Technology Selection and Evaluation

• Conduct enterprise assessments, governance reviews, and technical decision reviews to develop modernization strategies.
• Map, select, and drive application architecture and design decisions.
• Scale and simplify workloads, and configure the data platform for optimal and balanced performance and reliability.
• Prioritize the integration, access, and implementation strategy for technologies.

Required Skills & Experience

• 10+ years of experience in solution architecture, application architecture, or enterprise architecture.
• Extensive experience managing large-scale application on-platforming or modernization programs.
