JD-Design System PO - UI Designer

The UX Designer (JD Design System PO - UI Designer) will lead, communicate and orchestrate design initiatives at Julius Baer to define, prioritize and evolve the design system for the company. The focus will be on creating UI components and patterns and leading a team.

Job description

Tasks

  • Create 'ready for handover to development' UI components and patterns
  • Lead the central Design System team in Julius Baer
  • Strong focus on enabling structures for the team to perform optimally
  • Define, maintain and prioritise the Design System backlog for the enterprise, navigate competing interests of decentral teams consuming the central design system
  • Manage team priorities and workload: Allocate tasks, set deadlines, and monitor progress to ensure the team delivers high-quality results
  • Experience with Desktop & Mobile designs, including: Native design for iOS and Android platforms, as well as web-based applications. You should be familiar with designing for different screen sizes, resolutions, and devices
  • Shape the Design System vision and strategy for the future and articulate it masterfully to management stakeholders (non-design experts)
  • Communicate design system value and benefits: Educate stakeholders, project teams, and external partners about the design system's advantages and impact
  • Close involvement of key stakeholders, keep consuming parties (management level and operational level involved and informed)
  • Continuously improve the Design System with new features (current pipeline: AG Grid, UX Writing, Mobile Responsiveness, Theming, and much more)
  • Release management: Communicate changes to stakeholders, ensure backward compatibility, and provide support during transitions
  • Support design team with creating 'ready for handover to development' UI components and patterns in Figma

Requirements

Regulatory Responsibilities / OR Risk Management

  • Demonstration of appropriate values and behaviors including but not limited to standards on honesty and integrity, due care and diligence, fair dealing (treating customers fairly), management of conflicts of interest, competence and continuous development, adequate risk management, and consultancy with enterprise scale clients

Technical requirements

  • Fluency in best practices for web-based information architecture and design
  • Strong knowledge of usability principles and techniques
  • Excellent communication skills to translate design expert topics in an understandable fashion for management
  • Experience working in a collaborative multi-disciplinary team and working directly with developers for implementation of designs
  • Experience in a highly agile/scrum environment
  • Good understanding of software development processes
  • Understanding of front-end development: Basic knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, and how they interact with design elements
  • Branding Knowledge: Understanding of brand identity and guidelines, including typography, color, imagery, and tone of voice
  • Nice to have: Coding skills: Proficiency in coding languages like CSS, or JavaScript

  • Excellent stakeholder management skills. Ability to articulate your ideas clearly
  • Strong conceptual, analytical and problem solving skills, as well as defining concrete deliverables
