(Junior) Sanctions Advisory 100% (f/m/d)

The Julius Baer Group is seeking a (Junior) Sanctions Advisor to support the Global Sanctions Advisory Desk in the Compliance Department in Zurich and to work on the implementation of sanctions laws and regulations. The ideal candidate has 3–5 years of professional experience in compliance, risk, audit, or legal affairs and possesses knowledge of sanctions.

Job description

We are looking for a (Junior) Sanctions Advisory Specialist (100%) (f/m/d) for our Global Sanctions Advisory Desk, which is part of the Compliance Department in Zurich.

Tasks

The tasks include:
  • Defining and managing customers with sanctions-related ties and conducting materiality assessments to inform decisions on relevant risk aspects
  • Assessment and management of all aspects related to sanctioned parties (SDNs) that have a relationship with the bank
  • Supporting the team as a center of expertise in carrying out daily tasks
  • Support in the application of sanctions laws and regulations, as well as relevant sanctions programs, and the implementation of specific measures at the Head Office and throughout the Julius Baer Group
  • Advising colleagues on the implementation of the Global Sanctions Policy and monitoring legal and regulatory developments
  • Engage with local compliance units at Group companies to ensure the transfer of knowledge regarding policy decisions, controls, and key developments
  • Interaction with counterparties, government agencies, and colleagues within the financial sector network

Requirements

The requirements are:
  • A university degree (bachelor’s or master’s), preferably in economics, law, auditing, or finance, or another advanced degree with strong career prospects, or a completed banking training program in the financial sector with relevant continuing education
  • 3–5 years of professional experience, preferably in compliance, risk, audit, or legal, with experience and knowledge of sanctions issues
  • Willingness to work in a rapidly changing and challenging environment and a willingness to learn
  • A team player with a strong personality who offers practical solutions and completes tasks independently, efficiently, reliably, and to the required standard
  • Excellent organizational, operational, analytical, and communication skills, and the ability to work under time pressure
